Aston Villa have launched a £20m bid for Hull striker Abel Hernandez, according to Sky sources.
The Midlands club remain keen to bolster their squad ahead of Wednesday's looming transfer deadline and are set to smash the Championship transfer record, should this deal go through.
Hernandez, 26, was prolific as Hull were promoted from the Championship last season, scoring 22 goals, and he has one for the Tigers in the Premier League so far this season.
Villa have so far signed James Chester from West Brom, Tommy Elphick from Bournemouth, Pierluigi Gollini on a free transfer and Reading's Aaron Tshibola.
